Qianye's adoptive father. He is the dean of a local university and comes from an intellectual family. He and his wife adopted Qianye to repay a debt — Qianye's grandfather had risked his life to save Zhou Wen's father during the war, losing his leg in the process. He treats Qianye fairly well but their kindness feels more out of duty than from the heart. He and his wife eventually let Qianye do household chores without interference.
