Deputy Prime Minister of Great Hao, a southerner whose entire clan is in the south. He advises the emperor to open granaries, establish relief shelters and porridge stations, send troops to eliminate the rat plague, and resettle surviving southern-bound refugees. He opposes Lin Juzheng's tax proposal and is moved to tears when the emperor finally listens to his advice.
