Yu Xianqiu
Also referred to as Xianqiu or Lady Xie. Wife of Xie Tanwei, from the Yu family. Their marriage was political from the start. She is unable to bear children and has been living apart from her husband during her treatment. She adores Xie Tanwei, describing him as towering, gentle, understanding, and saintly—beyond compare with other frivolous young men of the Xie family. She has two younger sisters, including Tian Qin. She is frail and ailing, carefully maintaining that demeanor. She frets privately about her husband's true thoughts, which are always shrouded like winter mist. Her mother He Shi made inappropriate remarks about separation at a feast, causing Xianqiu great anxiety.
