The Minister of Rites (also referred to as Minister of Revenue in the text), a tall sturdy middle-aged man. He is Yu Hua's father and Shen Yanchu's husband. He can hear Yu Hua's inner voice and is deeply moved by her thoughts about never having had a family. He is kind-hearted but can be firm when necessary, as shown when he expelled Qi Momo.
