A deputy commander at the Seventh Regiment, same rank as Zhou Yan'an but twenty years older. He has dark weathered skin and thick black eyebrows. He is secretly resentful of Zhou Yan'an and often makes snide remarks. He tries to persuade Zhou Yan'an to marry She Chunni to quell rumors, but fails. He reports to the regiment commander about Zhou Yan'an's refusal.
