Male, an orphan boy from the Ye family, around eleven or twelve years old. His parents, grandparents, and adoptive guardian had all died. He showed excellent memory and scholarly talent, calmly summarizing everything Ye Manshu taught. Ye Manshu identified him as an ideal candidate to train for imperial examinations.
