Ye Qilan's older brother and the only son who inherited the Ye family fortune after his parents died in a fire. He took over the machinery factory and rarely appeared after that. Just before the factory changed hands in mid-March 1949, he visited the Shen residence and discussed fleeing abroad for asylum. Shen Nansu resembles him.
