Ye Caiping's cousin, the son of Second Aunt Ye. During a previous famine, he ate poisonous roots and almost died. He was saved when Grandma (Old Lady Ye) gave him a dose of dung, causing him to vomit for half a day. His story helped Ye Caiping identify the poisonous roots as cassava.
