The son of Ye Lijeng (Village Head). He is a dark and thin man in his twenties who was a big chubby baby at birth weighing eight pounds, hence his name. He broke his leg previously, leaving him with a limp, so he cannot do heavy labor. He drives an ox cart between the village and Dashu Town to earn extra money. He is friendly and grateful to Ye Caiping for teaching everyone how to handle cassava, so he refuses to charge her for the ride.
