Eldest son of Master Yao, also known as Yao Dalang. He attended the county academy and refers to himself as a student before the magistrate. He is composed, tries to discipline his brother Yao Jibai, and is married to a Zeng daughter. He faces conflict between family loyalty and his father-in-law's influence.
