Steward of Prince Shao's household and an advisor of sixth rank. He is from the prestigious Hongnong Yang clan. He was sent by Prince Shao (Li Yuanying) to Chang'an to investigate the true cause of the princess's death. He carries a silver fish pouch as a token of extraordinary trust. He is described as a frail scholar with a pale, scholarly face and three wispy strands of beard. He disguised himself as a merchant and suffered torture at the hands of Wei Xun, whom he mistook for a villain.
