The male lead of the novel. He was sent to the mining district as an educated youth along with Ning Ning and his best friend. He was placed in the tunneling team where Xie Fangzhu worked. He believes Xie Fangzhu deliberately caused the accident that injured his best friend to eliminate competition for the captain's position. He later became powerful after being dismissed from the coal mine and engaged in a long battle with Xie Fangzhu.
