The crown prince of Xuanzhao Kingdom and the story's biggest villain, also referred to as the second male lead. He is the emperor's only prince since the kingdom has mostly princesses, and the emperor dotes on him endlessly. After being rescued unconscious by the female lead Yan Shiyao, he became obsessed with making her his crown princess. When he learned she was meant to marry the male lead, he plotted to invade Qilan Kingdom. On the eve of the female lead's wedding, he stormed the capital and took her and the entire Prime Minister's household captive. He threatened Yan Shiyao's family and killed Yan Yuning first. He is described as wearing dark flowing robes with long hair tied high, having deep-set eyes, noble brows, and an air of natural arrogance. He wears a jade ring on his thumb. Despite marrying Yan Shiyao, he completely ignores her afterward, yet ten years later she was still untouched.
