Also called Miss Shumei, she is the long-lost daughter of Old Madam Xie who disappeared during the family's exile. She is believed to be the same person as Li Sumei/Su Fifth Auntie. The Xie family has been hoping for her return for many years, with Old Madam Xie having prayed to the Bodhisattva. Her reunion with her family is a central emotional plot point.
