Xie Liyi is Xie Yu's fifteen-year-old nephew, straightforward and eager to help. He admires his uncle and wants to be a soldier. He delivers a letter for Xie Yu and is instructed to help Chang Suisui. He is not as clever as his cousin Xie Jianguo and is often ignored by his parents. He remembers Chang Suisui giving him White Rabbit candy and wishes she would marry his uncle. He is earnest and proud when praised.
