Also known as Second Son, he is a cripple and mute who is dirt poor. He is the husband the original Shen Li was married off to. He cannot feel pain in his paralyzed legs. He was brutally mistreated by the original Shen Li—pinched, lashed with willow branches, jabbed with sharpened twigs, and slapped. He survived only because his younger brother Xiao Sanlang cared for him. He was so malnourished and neglected that he could only emit low rhythmic moans.
