The current emperor of the capital, formerly the crown prince. He grew up with Lu Ze'an as his study companion, reading books and practicing swordsmanship while Lu Ze'an caused trouble. He ascended to the throne and became known as a scholarly and wise emperor. However, he is also petty, vindictive, and sly, as shown when he exposed Lu Ze'an's hidden message in the exam essay and later sought revenge by ordering the marriage of Lu Ze'an's sister. He is suspected by the Empress Dowager of having a physical inability to perform sexually, though this is later revealed to be false. He has a complex relationship with Lu Ze'an, eventually becoming romantically involved with him.
