A half-grown boy under eighteen who is selling a courtyard house inherited from his deceased mother. He is forced to drop out of high school by his father, grandmother, and stepmother who want to transfer the house to the stepmother's son. He bows deeply to Liu Meiling after the sale, grateful that the money will allow him to finish college.
