A Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner who was both father and mother to Wen Zhu, raising her well and nurturing her medical skills. He fought with his master friend over a prediction that Wen Zhu would not live past eighteen. He insisted on defying fate to change her destiny, exchanging his own hundred-year lifespan and all the merit he painstakingly accumulated throughout his life from saving people to ensure her survival. He usually frugal and reluctant to spend money on himself but always gave Wen Zhu the best of everything.
