A woman from Henan who fled with her son Zhao Xiaoshu after her husband Zhao Baogen refused to help when their two daughters were sold by their uncle. She and her son took shelter in an abandoned temple in Dongjia Village after the city fell to Japanese soldiers. She agreed to accompany Wang Li to Shanghai to work as a cook.
