He genuinely cares for his mother, the Imperial Consort, and was willing to negotiate with her captors to save her. After Qin Man revealed his mother was poisoned and provided the antidote, he pledged to withdraw his forces from Nantang Kingdom territory and began investigating everyone involved in his mother's care.
