Two foreign men are minor antagonist characters who appeared at the Friendship Store. They spoke English with a regional accent and were extremely rude and disrespectful toward China and Chinese people. They complained about the translator's accuracy and made derogatory remarks about China's development and people. One called Chinese people yellow pigs and said their country was meant to be at foreign mercy. They mocked the clerks as spineless cowards. They were eventually confronted by Xia Ning'an who spoke fluent English, and after the store manager reported them to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they apologized and left in a huff.
