A female patient from Dongxiang County in Gansu Province, belonging to the Dongxiang ethnic minority. She was born with a congenital facial deformity that worsened after a failed surgery at the county hospital over twenty years ago, leaving her unable to open her mouth properly, speak, or eat normally. She endured this condition for the sake of her husband and two children. She discovered her exceptional embroidery skills were valued by university student entrepreneurs who brought her to Dunhuang. She saved money to afford facial reconstruction surgery and volunteered for the Northwest Heart Distance project.
