After Lily demonstrated her talent, he promptly tried to recruit her, emphasizing that he personally guides his students unlike many senior instructors. He made a fair point that several senior instructors who did not participate in grading might not have missed Lily's talent, but Aaron used Thorne's own earlier words against him. He was one of the instructors who tried to shut Aaron out when he tried to push through to Lily.
