A thin boy about fifteen or sixteen years old who set up a stall next to the Li family at the West Market. He wore a faded long cotton robe and had thick eyebrows and big eyes. He wrote the character for fortune on red paper in flowing calligraphy. He carried himself with the dignified presence of a true scholar despite his impoverished appearance.
