The former king who appeared as a gentle old man. He was a regular customer of tobacco made by Lydia's mother, which is how he became friends with the Hamilton family. He took power back to imprison his son (the current king) and promised to punish him properly. He owes Lydia a debt of gratitude for giving him a bath when he was lying injured on the roadside.
