A suspect in a murder case who was arrested and brought before Meng Liang. He claimed innocence but his agitated state suggested guilt. He was the son of Tang Yan and husband of Liu Wan. He had previously been bullied and falsely accused by a local ruffian in Tong'an County, an ordeal that traumatized him. He hysterically demanded to see Tong'an County Magistrate Gao Ran, inadvertently implicating Fang Jinghe. After suffering poor food and restless sleep in prison, he was physically weakened and kneeling on the floor during the proceedings.
