He had studied briefly with Zhou Zheng at a private school but were never close. He is described as still holding hope and unwilling to accept his fate, with the world offering no kindness to someone like him. He visited Lu Chuan to ask for a share of the wild boar meat, offering 200 copper coins for two jin.
