Steward Wan is the rotund middle-aged steward of the trading post, wearing a jade pendant at his waist. He is the one who negotiates with Yu Qiu (disguised) for the beast-repelling powder. He offers ten taels of silver per bottle, which is beyond his authority limit of five taels, as a gamble to secure the deal. He is cautious about following Yu Qiu, knowing she must have her own means of protection. He is ambitious and sees this deal as an opportunity for future promotion.
