The adoptive parents of Shen Chujin and biological parents of Shen Chuhan. They forced Shen Chujin to marry a wealthy but old man (at least forty-six years old, divorced three times, described as ugly, fat, and lecherous) in the South. They told Shen Chujin she must repay them for twenty years of upbringing costs and threatened to cut her off from the family if she refused. They are portrayed as malicious and manipulative.
