Shen Wan's uncle and head of the Shen family. He seized control of his brother's (Shen Wan's father) estate after the parents died, claiming to keep it until the children came of age. He is greedy and manipulative, wanting to use Shen Wan's marriage to Yan Xiao for family benefit. He sent Shen Wan's brother to study in Germany partly to remove him from claiming inheritance. He puts on dramatic shows of concern but is primarily self-interested.
