Shen Cong's father, a civil servant who retired and moved with his wife to a rural village on the edge of Beining. He and Gu Zhengchu had been old friends for many years. He enjoys fishing and drinking tea. Shen Cong plans to have him come for dinner with Gu Kai and his father.
