One of two men who crouched atop the eastern courtyard wall of the archery grounds to observe the ceremony. He is more learned than Shao Er and comments that this represents the collapse of ritual and music. He is cautious by nature and reminds Shao Er that they must report everything to the prince. He subtly teases Shao Er about the nickname Two-Dou Xie Lang, which actually refers to Shao Er's rank.
