The old Senior Grand Secretary Shen, father of Shen Si. He was the chief examiner when Ji Hanyi's father took the imperial examinations. Ji Hanyi's father was the Tanhua (third-place scholar) and became his most esteemed student. Ji Hanyi vaguely remembered visiting the Shen estate with her father as a child.
