After his wife disappeared following Mianmian's birth, he moved into Plum Garden, eats vegetarian meals, and devotes himself to Buddhist practices. He is a well-known Beijing Circle Buddhist. He blames Mianmian for his wife's disappearance and harbors resentment toward her. He is punishing Qin Yunchuan for being unjust to his sister.
