Before joining the army, his wife ran away, leaving him to raise Qiao Ruan alone. He sent all his allowances and bonuses monthly to his brother's family to support Qiao Ruan's upbringing. Before his death, he entrusted his old leader to protect his daughter. A memorial tablet was set up for him at the funeral in Qiao Village.
