Pu Yu's father, a man who works at a state-owned factory. He is cold, manipulative, and wants to force his seventeen-year-old daughter to drop out of school and marry for a bride price to support his new family. He has a strained relationship with his own foster mother, Li Suhua, referring to her dismissively as an old woman with no blood relation. He reluctantly gives Pu Yu two thousand yuan after she threatens to report him to his superiors.
