Professor Song is a visiting professor from the city who comes to the village to contribute to building a primary school. He faints from heatstroke while observing fieldwork. Lin Chaoyang revives him with salt-sugar water and fans him with a straw hat. Professor Song recalls hearing about Lin Chaoyang as a hero who fought human trafficking and secured a city job. He lives in a dilapidated hut with his young grandson. He politely declines Lin Chaoyun's offered wild vegetable patties, sensing ulterior motives.
