Pei Pu's younger brother and Shaohuai's second grand-uncle. He became Minister of Personnel and a favorite of the emperor. After their great-grandfather's death, he could not inherit the title and instead pursued scholarly achievements, rising from county magistrate of Wenjiang to prefect of Chengdu Prefecture, then to high ministerial positions. His family became more prominent than the Count's household in Kyoto.
