Also known as Old Yu the Half-Blind, born in 1919, making him sixty-five years old. A short, scrawny, half-blind old man who lives in the village temple at the end of Bajiao Village. He claims to be able to write, calculate, know the past and future, and communicate with spirits. He was formerly looked down upon as a night soil collector but has gained respect and wealth in recent years, handling funeral rites and auspicious date calculations for villagers.
