Old Mrs. Xia is Shang Rong's mother and the matriarch of the Xie family branch connected to the Shang family. Though not very old, she gave birth early and is respected as Shimu (Master's wife) by the disciples. She was once extremely poor and struggled to feed Shang Rong when he first came to live with her family. She tries to mediate conflicts, comforts Xia Ren, and is panicked about the Jin family's involvement in Shencheng. She scolds Xia Ren for reading too many novels when he claims Ming De attacked him.
