Also referred to as Grandfather Guan and Grandpa Guan, he is Guan Ciyan's father. He retired from the army with honors. He is strict and uses a whip for punishment within the Guan family. He has a taboo about his descendants maintaining chastity. He is concerned with the Guan family's public image and reputation. He is sarcastic and authoritative. He initially wanted to punish Guan Ciyan for the hotel incident and considered Jian Yang an outsider. He has guards who may be hiding outside the house. He prefers Guan Jingyu over Guan Ciyan to some extent but cannot tolerate Guan Jingyu defaming the Guan family in front of outsiders.
