The clan elder and village elder, a cousin of Wan Changsheng's father. He lives with the village head as father and son. He was displeased that Wan Changsheng was allowed to serve in the military instead of his own cousin. He feels pity for Wan Changsheng and disappointment that Changgang did not help with wedding preparations. He oversaw the wedding preparations and directed village women to cut auspicious characters from red paper.
