Male protagonist, a captain in the military (also referred to as Commander Nan and Nan Tuan). He is exceptionally handsome with dark phoenix eyes. He has a smoking habit that started after his grandfather's death, smoking at most two cigarettes a day. He entered an arranged marriage with Wen Yanyan per his grandfather's dying wish and refuses to divorce as long as she does not bring it up. He shows compassion toward Wen Yanyan, viewing her as pitiful rather than terrible. He led the wild boar extermination efforts in Wild Boar Village and organized defensive measures including wooden stakes, scarecrows, and mint planting.
