Ming Dai's uncle (Ming Changhe's older brother) and the father of Ming Yanhong and Ming Yaozu. He works at a soy sauce factory and earns far less than Ming Changhe did. He is described as shameless and greedy. After Ming Changhe's death, he and his family searched the house for the savings book and beat Ming Dai when they could not find it. He agreed to let Ming Dai be sent to the countryside in place of his daughter Ming Yanhong.
