The protagonist of the novel Yanyan. She was originally a vibrant and outgoing university student, optimistic and kind, full of passion for life. She was trafficked after being tricked by an elderly couple who claimed to be lost. She was sold as a wife to an older man, struggled, escaped resulting in a broken leg, tried to force a miscarriage, gave birth to twins, and eventually killed her torturers and set the corrupt village on fire.
