The male lead of the novel and Meng Shining's biological older brother. He is a wealthy young man from the prominent Meng family. He reprimanded Meng Shining at the beginning of the story for causing trouble with Lin Siqing. He has a close relationship with Lin Siqing and appears to be involved with Jiang Wenyan through an arranged marriage. He is described as having a sharp, sometimes dangerous demeanor when provoked by his sister.
