Meng Yuning's grandfather, who has already passed away. He was a volunteer soldier in 1952 at age fifteen, from the same hometown as Pei Qingcheng. After the war, he became a teacher despite his family's disapproval, with Pei Qingcheng's support. He and Pei Qingcheng built a school together and became outstanding teachers with students all over the world. He retired honorably and is remembered fondly.
