Also called Teacher Wen, he is Wen Ying's father and an exiled scholar who is well-traveled and well-read. He was once supposed to enter the palace to teach princes. He plays along with Ling Yunhan for his daughter's sake but internally seethes with anger at the young master's manipulation. He recognizes that the villagers have never killed anyone and cannot be rallied to fight.
