A gentle old man of about sixty who was hired as a private tutor to teach calligraphy and literacy to Huai and Jin. Though he had no official rank, he was a skilled calligrapher whose technique closely imitated the styles of the Yan and Liu schools. He taught the boys proper brush posture and character structure, and provided sealed practice papers for them to copy.
